I wander though Pinterest looking for yummy, healthy snack ideas for my family. It’s hard to try them if you don’t know how they’re going to turn out. Who wants to use all those ingredients just to find out that no one likes them?! I thought that I would share with you one that I did make that way you will have a good idea of how it tastes and how easy it is to make. Then decide if it’s worth it for your family. Healthy cookies! Is there even such a thing? Well I made some, not sure if I’d bring them up to cookie status…maybe a yummy breakfast bar in cookie form.
Let’s start with the pin:
This is one of those pins that has a recipe under the picture that is different from the recipe when you go to the link. I did the recipe UNDER the picture the one from the link sounded good, but was too much work for me. The one under the picture sounded easy and doable with two little helpers and one that I get to wear while cooking.
So this is it, bananas, oats, brown sugar and almond butter. (It called for peanut butter but we have allergies so almond butter it is for us. I think it would taste even better with the PB though!)
Then we added the chocolate chips…(could be raisins, carob chips…whatever your family likes) stirred and then I put it in the fridge to cool. I felt it was a little runny to scoop at that time. It’s up to you. An hour later we scooped them on the cookie sheet and baked.
That was it! Now were these as tasty as a hot chocolate chip cookie? No. However, I can give my kiddos two of these and they feel like they’re getting a special treat and don’t feel so guilty for letting them indulge. You can taste the banana and I think without the chocolate chips they wouldn’t be as yummy, but that’s just me! Most importantly the kids loved them and they satisfied my sweet tooth. (For a little while, we all know those sweet tooth’s are never satisfied for long).
If you’re wandering through Pinterest or Pin-n-Tell and wondering, should I make that? I think this one is a yes!
