I am obsessed with Fidella’s new carrier, the Fly Tai. So much so that I currently own 3 of them! Needless to say, I was thrilled to get a chance to write about this amazing baby carrier.
The Fidella Fly Tai is the most comfortable baby carrier that I have ever tried. Straight out of the box, it is so incredibly soft. I mean, crazy soft. I have never felt another wrap like this. Even woven wraps that have been broken in for years just don’t compare to the silky softness of the Fly Tai. The organic cotton wraps like a dream. you really have to feel one of these for yourself.
I have tried the Fly Tai with my 6 month old, my 2 year old and even my 5 year old and they all fit in this amazing carrier because of it’s infinitely adjustable design. You just cinch the sides and the top and bottom to whatever height and width that you need and tie it off with a knot and then you have the perfect sized carrier for your individual baby. I love that there is no second guessing on if I need a baby or toddler sized carrier since the Fly Tai can fit any little one.
The people at Fidella really thought things through when developing the Fly Tai. One thing that I really appreciate is that the waist strap and the shoulder straps each have different shaped ends. This might sound like a small thing, but it has been a lifesaver for us. In the past with other mei tei carriers, I have accidentally started to untie the waist strap when I really meant to untie the shoulders. Not knowing which strap you are untying is dangerous and can lead to falls. I love that with the Fly Tai, I always know which strap I am grabbing, even when I can’t see it.
The Fly Tai is made entirely out of Fidella’s organic cotton wraps. There are no plastic or metal snaps, clips or closures to be found on the Fly Tai. The fact that it is made entirely of the wrap fabric means that it is super soft everywhere and you don’t have to worry about an annoying hard metal button or clip getting caught on the wrap and damaging it or ending up in your baby’s mouth.
The Fly Tai is the most comfortable carrier that I own. My little guy is weightless in a front carry. In a back carry, he can ride up nice and high to see out. The tail length of the shoulder straps is great and allows for extra fabric to use for beautiful, fancy finishes.
The advantage of the Fly Tai is that you get a custom fit every time without the difficulty of wrapping. With a regular woven wrap I can never seem to get a good seat even though I have been babywearing for years. With the Fly Tai, we get a safe, secure and perfect seat every time. I get the added comfort of a custom fit with the wrap straps perfectly wrapped around me and my little guy. This perfect fit distributes the weight of the baby and makes him feel weightless.
The padded waist is so comfortable and does not dig in at all. I can even sit comfortably in the Fly Tai… something that cannot be done as easily in other carriers.
The shoulder straps are really where the Fly Tai shines. They are padded, but can also spread out over my shoulders to further distribute the weight. I have never felt more comfortable shoulder straps. I can wear my little guy for hours without feeling any strain on my shoulders or back.
The coverage of the Fly Tai’s straps is very good. The extra width paired with the hood make it great to protect baby from the sun or to cover up when nursing.
Of course, it is also packed with “sleepy dust” and kiddo falls asleep in it every time!
The best part is that the Fly Tai is under $125 USD and includes FREE worldwide shipping! You really can’t get better than that!\
