Caramel Apple Bites Pin-Win!

I saw this pin for caramel apple bites a few weeks ago, and they looked so fun and festive I knew I needed to try them! They turned out super cute, and I just had a few tips & suggestions.

First, I bought 8″ sticks and cut them into 3 parts, it was the perfect size. Make sure you cut a bunch, because you don’t want to be cutting them as your apples turn brown.

Second, you might need to add about 1/4 cup of shortening to the butterscotch chips (even if you buy the name brand). It was clump and chunky, when I added the shortening, it was smooth and yummy.

Third, dab the bottom of the apple on a paper towel before you dip it, the dry apple holds on to the melted chips much better then a drippy one.

I also put them on a cookie sheet in the cupcake liners to set up, and I had the cookie sheet in the freezer for 10-15 minutes so it was cold when I started. Make sure you consume them in a few hours, the leftovers were soggy and drippy the next day (though they still tasted good!).
